2-day Online CARBON LITERACY TRAINING for the Fashion Industry

2-day Online CARBON LITERACY TRAINING for the Fashion Industry

Description

Organised by: Fashion in Film Festival, in partnership with Carbon Literacy Project;.

The Carbon Literacy Project is an international organisation dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and action. In this 2-part online course, you will:

  • Build a foundational understanding of the causes and consequences of climate change within wider contexts of the fashion industry, net zero, and global technological emissions.

  • Explore a range of data contexts related to the fashion and textiles industries, exploring ways to inspire educational and organisational change through accessible approaches.

  • Understand more about institutional carbon reporting, sharing knowledge of recent policy developments and unpacking institutional case studies that explore challenges and opportunities related to net zero targets.

At the end of this course, each participant will be able to obtain certification in Carbon Literacy through accreditation offered by the Carbon Literacy Project.

Who is the course tailored for?

Our course is focused on building a wider picture around carbon reporting, net zero, and environmental impact assessment that can feed into and inform the practice of those working in or studying fashion or textiles. Our goal is to help you make appropriate, scientifically informed environmental actions, whether you are a fashion designer, buyer, merchandiser, educator, student, historian, journalist or otherwise. The course is designed to tailor to a range of expertise levels: from a seasoned sustainability professional to a curious onlooker or someone just getting started in their fashion career.

Who leads the course?

This course is led by George Barker, Organisational Development Consultant for Net Zero, who has taught 60+ carbon literacy courses for staff, students and the public across a range of art and design contexts. George’s research background is in environmental ethics, with a particular focus on impact reporting, and environmental risk assessment. George is the co-founder of the Climate Emergency Network, a community of staff and students based in UAL who mobilise creative action as a force for climate, social and racial justice.
