Psycho Paint is a versatile platinum silicone paint base. It is a two-component translucent clear platinum-cure silicone that is used to make a base for colour pigmenting. Once the desired colour is attained, Psycho Paint is thinned with a dedicated solvent. Thin layers of paint can then be applied to a model’s surface (only suitable for models made of platinum silicone) using an airbrush or hand painting. Coloured Psycho Paint will bond to the model’s surface and offers good abrasion resistance. It is very strong and will stretch and bend with the model without cracking or peeling. Not suitable for models made of condensation/tin cure silicones
*CURE INHIBITION*
Great care must be taken when handling and mixing all addition-cured silicone systems. All the mixing tools should be clean and constructed in materials which do not interfere with the curing mechanism. The cure of the rubber can be inhibited by the presence of compounds of nitrogen, sulphur, phosphorus and arsenic; organotin catalysts and PVC stabilisers; epoxy resin catalysts and even contact with materials containing these substances e.g. moulding clays, sulphur vulcanised rubbers, condensation cure silicone rubbers, some printed plastics, onion and garlic.
- Materials can only be purchased from eStore by CSM students, on the day of their booking, to be used in the casting workshop at L008.
