Italian, Arts & Culture - Beginner

Each class begins with a presentation given by your teacher, introducing you to an aspect of the country’s art and culture.

The language learning comes from this topic with listening, speaking, reading and writing activities. By the end of the course you will not only have a grasp of a modern language but you will also be able to use this skill in an interesting and practical way.

Classes take place at our High Holborn building, approx. 3-minutes’ walk from Holborn Underground station in central London. They take place one evening per week between 6pm and 8:30pm.

Course Description

Our evening language courses are built around an arts and culture context. You will explore a variety of topics including architecture, cuisine, culture, design, fashion, society and more.

Over the 8 weeks of the Italian Beginner course, you will be introduced not only to the language but also to different aspects of the arts and culture of Italy. This course is focused on the basic elements of the language necessary to communicate in a functional and communicative way. You will explore functional language related to Italian cuisine, fashion, architecture and holidays. You will be introduced to vocabulary for shopping, accessories and clothes, food and drink, and interiors, along with how to describe them and express your likes and dislikes. The course includes reading and listening tasks and you will engage in dialogues and practice your writing skills. There is a focus of the programme on oral communication and pronunciation as well as using language for functional and practical purposes.

The maximum number of students attending each class is 15.
