Italian, Arts and Culture

Italian Beginner 1 - Wednesday Evening

Each class includes a presentation given by your teacher, introducing you to an aspect of the country’s art and culture.

The language learning is related to this topic and includes listening, speaking, reading and writing activities. 

Classes take place at our High Holborn building, approx. 3-minutes’ walk from Holborn Underground station in central London. They take place one evening per week between 6pm and 8:30pm.

The maximum number of students attending each class is 15.

Course Description

Our evening language courses are built around an arts and culture context. You will explore a variety of topics including architecture, cuisine, culture, design, fashion, society and more. Each level consists of three parts over the course of three terms.

                                                                                                                                                                   Over the 8 weeks of the Italian Beginner One course, you will:

  • be introduced not only to the language but also to different aspects of the arts and culture of Italy
  • explore functional language related to Italian cuisine, fashion, architecture and holidays.
  • be introduced to vocabulary for shopping, accessories and clothes, food and drink, and interiors
  • learn how to describe urban spaces, clothing, architecture
  • learn how to express your likes and dislikes
  • do reading and listening tasks
  • engage in dialogues and practice your writing skills.

There is a focus on oral communication and pronunciation as well as using language for functional and practical purposes.

Social Programme events and activities will be announced on a termly basis, in line with the topics in the syllabus and your chosen language of study.
