French, Arts & Culture

This course is only for students who have followed the French, Arts & Culture - Intermediate course.

Each class begins with a presentation given by your teacher, introducing you to an aspect of the country’s art and culture.

The language learning comes from this topic with listening, speaking, reading and writing activities. By the end of the course you will not only have a grasp of a modern language but you will also be able to use this skill in an interesting and practical way.

Classes take place at our High Holborn building, approx. 3-minute walk from Holborn Underground station in Central London. They take place one evening per week between 6pm and 8:30pm.

Course Description

Our evening language courses are built around an arts and culture context. You will explore a variety of topics including architecture, cuisine, culture, design, fashion, society and more.Each course features a British Museum experience, with a unique lecture followed by free admission to an exhibition. An exciting event on international cuisine is also included.        

                                                                                                                                                                                                    Over the 8 weeks of the French Intermediate Continuation course, you will build on your ability to talk about your experience and ambitions and delve deeper into designing and making processes that you started in term one. You will learn to express your opinions more succinctly and to support them with reasons and critical awareness.
The listening component of the course will include exposure to authentic radio or TV programmes on current art trends or topics of personal or professional interest. You will also explore, in some depth, language of hypotheses and processes and practise them yourself. There is a focus of the programme on oral communication and pronunciation as well as using language for functional and practical purposes.
